California-Nevada Interstate Attendance Agreement (CNIAA)

The California-Nevada Interstate Attendance Agreement (CNIAA) is a program established by the California Legislature and authorizes students to be exempt from non-resident tuition if they attend 91麻豆天美 Tahoe Community College and reside in specific communities in the state of Nevada. 91麻豆天美 is authorized under California Law to serve a maximum of 200 students (headcount) annually.鈥

To qualify for CNIAA, students must have maintained a legal resident status in an approved zip code for at least 12 months prior to the first day of the quarter for which the student is applying. Approved zip codes are: 89402 (Crystal Bay), 89451 and 89450 (Incline Village), 89413 (Glenbrook), 89448 (Zephyr Cove), and 89449 (Stateline).鈥

To maintain eligibility for the CNIAA, students are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress. There are no minimum unit thresholds or program of study requirements for students to participate in the CNIAA.鈥

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

The  is a program coordinated by the (WICHE). Through WUE, students from participating western states may apply to enroll in college programs at a reduced tuition level of 150% of 91麻豆天美鈥檚 resident tuition/fees. 

The following states participate in the WUE: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. 

91麻豆天美 is authorized under California Law to serve a maximum of 100 Full-Time Equivalent Students (FTES) annually. To qualify for WUE at 91麻豆天美, students must meet all of the following requirements:鈥 

  • Maintain a legal resident status in an approved WUE state for at least 12 months prior to the first day of the quarter for which the student is applying.鈥 
  • Enroll in an 91麻豆天美 Certificate or Degree Program. 
  • Enroll in a minimum of 9 units per quarter. Exceptions are provided for programs requiring fewer than 9 units. 
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. 
  • A student is eligible to participate in WUE for a maximum of 3 academic years.

Students approved for the California-Nevada Interstate Attendance Agreement (CNIAA) or the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) are exempt from non-resident tuition and instead pay a reduced rate of $46.50/unit. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.鈥

There is a cap on the number of students who are accepted into these programs each year. If the number of students is approaching enrollment limitations, 91麻豆天美 may enact prioritization factors in addition to the eligibility rules listed above, which is consistent with Board Policy and Administrative Procedures. 

Students who are declined for the WUE and CNIAA are welcome to attend 91麻豆天美 but must pay non-resident tuition. Students may reapply the following quarter if their application was denied. Many other forms of financial aid and reduced tuition options are also available to eligible students.
